Artist Statement
I create for those who wonder, explore, and immerse themselves in the layers of identity and fulfillment. My work encourages audiences to investigate whimsical narratives with attention and focus, sparking reflection and understanding. Through playfulness, intuition, and intention, I illuminate the richness of self acceptance, guiding viewers to discover their personal truths and celebrate their individuality. Each piece is a glimmer of story and insight, inviting curiosity, contemplation, and authentic self-expression.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and currently based in the Greater New Orleans area, Zoe Cuneo grew up with a passion for the arts. Zoe earned two degrees from the University of New Orleans, a B.A. in Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts and an M.A. in Arts Administration, each bringing valuable experience and insight about her career path. After nine years working for both corporate and nonprofit arts organizations, Zoe left her administrative career to become a professional artist. Through the Mastery Program at the Milan Art Institute, she gained skill and expertise in drawing and painting. She has found her voice and created an expansive portfolio of work.
Zoe Cuneo creates pieces that invite audiences to explore identity, personal growth, and self-discovery. Through imaginative narratives and thoughtful engagement, she inspires reflection and insight, guiding viewers to uncover their own truths and celebrate their individuality.
Zoe is constantly rearranging her studio, expanding her stencil collection, and discovering new creative materials. She is building relationships with galleries, local organizations, and community thought leaders to collaborate on new artistic projects.
Whimsical Realism
Starting intuitively, Zoe layers a variety of media—collage, inks, acrylics, mark-making, and spray paint—to build textured and complex backgrounds that feel alive with possibility. These layers form a foundation of energy and depth, suggesting fragments of history, memory, and imagination. Into these rich surfaces, she places her subjects, balancing what is revealed with aspects that connect to the dynamic background. Some elements emerge in striking clarity, illuminated through oils, while others linger in ambiguity, inviting viewers to lean closer and uncover their own interpretations.
